Musical Performance

For the finest traditional instrumental Irish music available in Atlanta, give me a call! I play Irish music to a high standard on fiddle, Irish flute, tin whistle, guitar, tenor banjo and bodhran (Irish frame drum). I am available to provide entertainment or background music for your wedding, party, concert or other event, and bring a tasteful ear and a professional attitude to the table. I look forward to working with you to ensure that everything goes smoothly and your guests leave happy.

In my solo performances I take into account the nature of the event, the type of audience, the acoustic environment, and program variety to choose appropriate material and instruments to achieve the greatest effect. I am eager to collaborate if you have specific things you would like to hear; however please note that my repertoire is mostly limited to instrumental dance music, and not ballads and other songs. Within the realm of Irish dance music, my repertoire is pretty extensive, and I use different types of tunes, tempos and textures to avoid monotony.

I have a decent-quality, racked PA system I can bring for an extra charge. The system will support up to an 8-piece band, and includes the following equipment:

  • Carvin C844 8-channel mixer with effects
  • Furman M8-L power conditioner
  • Studio Projects VTB1 mic preamps
  • Alesis 3630 compressor
  • Behringer FBQ3102 31-band stereo EQ
  • BBE 882i Sound Maximizer
  • Kustom KPC10M monitors/small main speakers
  • Microphones:
    • Audio-Technica AT3035 (large-diaphragm condenser)
    • Audio-Technica Pro7A (lapel condenser)
    • AKG C1000S (small-diaphragm condenser)
    • Shure SM57 (dynamic)
For background music in small venues, I have a small one-piece unit I can use instead, for no charge.

I can organize group performances with other musicians I know, upon request. Rates and availability may vary depending on the desired instrumentation, and musician schedules. See below for more information.

Rates and Terms

My basic rate is $150, plus $75 per hour. The following assumptions apply:

  • The performance will take place in the metro Atlanta area, within a 40-minute normal drive time of where I will be coming from (I will let you know in advance what my travel time should be, and I won’t charge for unforeseen traffic conditions). I charge for travel over the 40-minute limit at the rate of $1/minute, rounded to the nearest ten dollars.
  • The performance will occur during times of the year other than St. Patrick’s Day. Within 7 days of St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th), I must raise the basic rate to $200 plus $100/hour due to demand.
  • Bookings will be made at least 14 days in advance. Bookings made within 14 days of the event will incur an extra 20% charge.
  • No PA system will be needed, or the client will provide one. I can bring my PA system (see above) for a flat charge of $150. This accounts for the extra effort of bringing the system, wear and tear on the system, and the extra time required to set it up, do a sound check, and take it down.
  • I will be performing solo. I can arrange additional musicians if desired, subject to their availability. In this case, each additional musician will quote me an individual rate, which I will add to my total.
Based on the rates and assumptions above, a normal one-hour solo performance will cost $225, and a two-hour performance $300. The same performances within a week of St. Patrick’s Day will cost $300 and $400, respectively.

No deposits are necessary. I can provide a contract if desired. Payment is accepted via PayPal (preferred), cash, or check, and should be made immediately after the performance is over.

I will be happy to provide a quote based on your specific needs – feel free to contact me!
